Upcoming: Medical Living History at the George Spangler Farm

We are about 3 weeks away from the next event on our schedule at the George Spangler Farm from Friday, June 21st to Sunday, June 23rd, 2019. This is a huge event for us and it is the only event on our schedule where we are setting up and interacting with the public all 3 days.

Set up will begin on Friday starting at 7:30 AM. After talking to Paul Semanek we both agree with the current construction going on with the main Farm House we will be setting up this year in the Wagon Shed of the Barn. We will not be setting up tents this year. We must be set up on Friday by 9:30 AM at the latest and be ready to go for the first bus at 10 AM. The event goes Friday, Sat, and Sun from 10 AM till the last bus picks up and goes around 3:30 PM.

This year our impression will be Union and will be portraying a Field Hospital for the 11th Corps of the Army of the Potomac. Please, make sure to plan accordingly. In addition in terms of Corps Badges the only one we should be wearing for this event is the 11th Corps Badge which is a Crescent Moon. Any one needing a badge please let me know.

In terms of meals after speaking with Dean Thews we are looking to make lunch on Friday and a Sat evening meal. Friday night we will look to go into town for dinner and anyone interested in Breakfast Sat and Sun we can meet at May’s Avenue Restaurant at 7:30 AM. As with previous years we ask everyone who is planning oncoming to please bring a gallon of water with them. We do have port a jons on site and plenty of wood. The water on site is still not drinkable. Also we do have the Spring House where we can store and lock up things at the end of the day.

Please RSVP if you are planning on coming or not by Friday, June 14th. This is a fantastic event and Carolyn Ivanoff will be giving a presentation in the lower level of the barn at 12:00 PM on Sat.

Until next time!

Best!
Mark
